Smoked Marlin Salad

In the last year I have gained about 20 lbs, to be fair I haven’t been exercising as much, I haven’t been paying attention to what I eat and I think some of it is probably natural “woman weight” as I am getting older. Anyway I am on a mission to have a more balanced diet, which is likely be reflected in TYT.com. Before you jump to any conclusions this doesn’t mean that I won’t be featuring any decadent, rich recipes; no one wants to eat like a rabbit but there’s nothing wrong with being a little more health conscious. This Smoked Marlin salad is the beginning of lots of healthy yummy recipes that are easy to whip up. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring and together we’ll learn how.

Start by boiling your egg to perfection and season with salt and pepper

While you egg is cooking put the oil and lemon or lime juice in a bowl, add your chopped mixed greens, tomatoes, capers and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix through thoroughly and put in the center of your plate.

Put the rest of your avocado and smoked marlin over your greens. Cut you egg in half and season with a pinch of salt and pepper before plating.

Ingredients
  1. handful of mixed greens, chopped
  2. 1 egg
  3. 4 slices of smoked marlin
  4. 4 grape tomatoes, finely chopped
  5. 2 slices of avocado
  6. small handful of capers
  7. 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon/lime juice
  8. 1 teaspoon olive oil
  9. salt and pepper
Instructions
  1. Put the egg in a small pot and fill with cold water until it is about an inch above the egg. Place on the stove over high heat and once it is boiling remove from the stove and cover. Let it sit for about 12 minutes before placing it in cold water so that it is easier to peel.

    What is smoked marlin? And where can I purchase it?

      Your local supermarket should have smoked marlin; marlin is a large fish with a spear-like “nose”. Smoked marlin has a very distinct fish flavour.

    I have made this salad about 4 times and every time we feel like we are eating a flash cafe lunch! Yum!
