I have been blessed with many maternal figures in my life and I know that when the day comes for my mothering to be acknowledged by little ones I would be happy with a foodie treat (bought by dad) accompanied by some artistic scribbles creating a Mother’s Day card. Whether you are in the UK celebrating Mother’s Day this Sunday March 15th or the 10th of May in Jamaica and the United States of America or perhaps you are waiting until the end of the year and celebrating on December 22nd like the Indonesians. I was surprised to learn that countries all over the world celebrate Mother’s Day on various days throughout the year.

When I realised it was Super Bowl Sunday this weekend I knew I had to share this easy recipe for wings with you. Not that you need an excuse to devour Jamaican Honey-Jerk Wings but this weekend is as good a time as any. I think wings are great for time spent with the people you love (it is not first date food) because there is something about eating with your hands and sharing that makes everyone feel comfortable and united.

I read an article that said that 50% of people who started a diet for 2015 would have given up by last week Thursday. I don’t believe in strict diets anyway so I hadn’t committed to one for the New Year, however like most of you I over indulged a little over the holidays and put on a few pounds but I do not tell you this with regret; absolutely not, I tell you this with great pride because for me that is exactly what the holidays are about – eating too much, drinking too much, laughing so hard you forget what was funny in the first place and being around those you love but don’t get to see as much as you want to because life is busy getting in the way.
