22nd May is International Paloma Day and whilst there seems to be a special day for everything, when there’s alcohol involved it’s an easy sell. The Paloma is one of Mexico’s national cocktails, Paloma means dove in Spanish, a symbol of peace, although I have no idea what the connection is.
Everyone thinks of Margaritas and Tequila Sunrise, to a lesser extent, but locals in Mexico know that it’s all about the Paloma. Simple, boozy & delicious. Whilst we’re in lockdown I think we all have come to appreciate to make do with what we can get our hands on, so I’ve given you two recipes to try out this bank holiday weekend, not that bank holidays mean anything these days. However it’s set to be hot and sunny so the perfect excuse to have something refreshing in your glass!
Don’t drink too many as you’ll be saying “Hey Papi” or “Hey Mami” to total strangers, forget all about social distancing and the fact that we are experiencing a global health crisis. I’ve posted a video on Instagram just in case you need some guidance but to put it simply, dash it all in a glass with some ice and enjoy. We know that great food pairs so effortlessy with a great drink; my tacos are a match made in heaven for any cocktail with tequila.
Happy International Paloma Day!
Live, Love, Drink!
